Double Trouble! TWO Doctor Who Nights To Occur In October!

New month, big developments. As already mentioned here, TJ Lubinsky and Dan Harris were developing a National Doctor Who Night for current US Doctor Who affiliates to air in October. But while that night was being developed, Ken Patterson at KTEH San Jose, CA was planning a LOCAL Doctor Who Night to air at about the same time, independent of the national production. Both have now gotten the go- ahead. Here's what can be revealed so far:

NATIONAL - Doctor Who - Whovians Across America. To be recorded October 21st at WQED studios in Pittsburgh. Studio guests - Nicholas Courtney and Sylvester McCoy. Wild night. Fan survey to go out online within the next few days asking people to select their 2 favorite Courtney and 2 favorite McCoy episodes to air in the special. Available to stations "currently" airing the series. Awaiting word on how many stations would air it live before deciding whether to offer it live or just record it to show when stations are ready. Even if live, stations could opt to air it tape delayed. Only episodes currently available for US syndication can be chosen for the marathon (so no requests for the color Ambassadors Of Death 1 or surviving episodes of Invasion, please). Produced by TJ Lubinsky (Doo Wop 50) and Dan Harris.

SAN JOSE, CA - Doctor Who - (Title To Be Announced). Live Wednesday October 18th at 8PM Pacific Time on KTEH 54. Studio guests - Carole Ann Ford and Sylvester McCoy. No, you don't get to pick the episodes on this one. They're planning a wild night too. Produced by Ken Patterson and Dan Harris. Not expected to be available nationally.

Controversial story. Some love it, some hate it, some use it to bang people over the head when they've said something silly. The 6th Doctor is forced to retrieve an amulet which holds the key to power on Karfel. Meanwhile, he winds up with a hanger-on named Herbert who gives every indication that he's become a new companion. Watch for the Bandril, while I watch for a way to get out of this plot description.
